Groznjan is a village of 200 inhabitants, 260 meters above sea-level, 12 km from Buje, is a medieval town, acropolic by its type, which until 1940 was a home of 7000 people. Medieval defensive and urban architecture is well preserved. The baroque church of St. Vid and Modest was built in 1770. It was first mentioned as a parish in 1330. The ruins of bulworks and keeps date from the 14th century.

The church has a valuable artistic inventory. Nowadays Groznjan is an art colony where painters and sculptors from oil over the world meet, as well as young musicians who often organize concerts here and enjoy the benefits of exchanging their experiences and meeting new friends. It has been proclaimed the city of artists in 1965.
